Good morning:

Important day today across the country.

Democracy only works when the people participate and today gives everyone of age and eligibility the opportunity to do that.

All it should take is a short window of time but there seems to be areas of the country that are making it more difficult to do so. Some of us will have to sacrifice more than others, more time, more effort and more courage but it will be worth it if only to protect our rights and values.

I remember when the Iraqi people were given the right to cast their vote. There was a real possibility that it could have resulted in death, but the numbers that showed up at the polls were astounding, the percentage of citizens that used their voice that election year was doubled or tripled that of the US. They had learned what a precious gift it is, and we need to see it the same way. Before it’s too late.
