Yesterday I spent the day at a local zoo with my grandchildren ages five and three, along with my son and daughter-in-law and it was so very nice to have a day that didn’t revolve around the computer, the dogs or the house.

Getting out among people is also great for picking up a new thread or scene for my books.

As an example, there was a man walking ahead of me toward the exit. He had one of his kids riding his neck, one walking just slightly ahead and one holding his hand. He looked beat but you could tell he loved being with his family and took care with them. In my mind, I saw Nate Fisher, (Rekindling the Fire) doing the same and hope I can work it into my storyline. His wife Mia isn’t sure their family comes first with him, but capturing Nate like this, tells a different story.
